The JP Narayan Centre for Sustainable Development and World Peace recognises that lasting international cooperation is built not only through formal diplomatic channels but also through meaningful connections between people, institutions, and communities. Through its People-to-People Diplomacy Programme, the Centre actively promotes friendship, mutual understanding, and constructive engagement among nations and peoples.
The Centre works closely with diplomatic missions, international organisations, academic institutions, civil society groups, and community leaders to strengthen both bilateral and multilateral relationships. Particular emphasis is placed on fostering engagement with countries that share longstanding historical, cultural, economic, and developmental ties with Mauritius, including South Africa, India, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, France, Egypt, and other partner nations.
Through participation in diplomatic receptions, policy dialogues, cultural exchanges, conferences, seminars, and international forums, the Centre seeks to build bridges of understanding and cooperation. These engagements provide opportunities for dialogue on matters of common interest, including sustainable development, education, governance, peacebuilding, climate resilience, youth empowerment, and economic cooperation.
